Spring Life Update
Good Morning all, how have you been?
Chris & I are doing well, just as I hope you all are. I have been taking a social media hiatus for the lenten season which has worked out really well I believe among this crisis we are all currently experiencing. I am still working full-time which I am very blessed to say, Chris has taken a 30-day leave for the month of April from the airline. We are maintaining our distance from our families and public places just as I hope you all are as well.
I've had some really great opportunities and experiences since the new year. One that I am very humbled to be a part of was for National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day (March 11th). I was highlighted at the 180th Fighter Wing where I was able to share my life experiences, education, goals, and future plans for becoming an RDN. If you are interested in reading it, click here .
I was also selected as a first sergeant of the logistic readiness squadron. I decided to interview last minute and ended up being selected and I am so excited about this amazing privilege and opportunity to work with a very large squadron. A first sergeant is an amazing position in which I get to work as a liaison between the commander and members of the squadron. I can't wait to get to know this new group and facilitate anyway that I can.
Finally, I am waiting just as my other dietetic student colleagues are for match day that is approaching very quickly. April 5th is almost here and I am really looking forward to find out what life will be delivering to me. I selected the Baylor Army DI as my number 1 and a distanced program through Iowa State as my number 2. I know whatever happens next is what is meant to happen and guide me on this path in my life. After Sunday Chris and I will begin to make our plans as to if we will be moving, selling the house, and finding a new one or if we are staying put for now and then be moving next year.
I will be posting my selection next week to keep you all up to date and say hello. As far as my health is going, I have been healthy with no cold/flu symptoms, staying hydrated, getting sleep, staying away from the public as much as I possibly can, and eating regularly. I luckily have a gym in my basement that I use to train clients which is what I am utilizing during this time where everything is closed. I have also been running and doing workouts before work each morning to keep up a routine. This routine helps keep me sane and less stressed. I hope you are all able to make time for yourselves, participate in self-care especially now more than ever, and work on your communication with your family, friends, and loved ones. Keep up the social distancing, washing your hands/frequently touched surfaces often, limit exposure, and stay home as much as possible.
