Dietetic Internship
Yes.... yes, the day FINALLY came! April 5th, 2020 was a day that was in my dreams ever since I started undergrad in the fall of 2015. I was matched to the Iowa State University distanced dietetic internship and am beyond excited. This is an accelerated program that I will complete in late November of this year, which means I will more than likely sit to board right after the new year. So I could be a fully bone fide RD by early January… the thought just gets me so excited. ISU was selected as my number 2 however, I whole heartedly believe that everything happens for a reason and this is the path I am destined to be on. I can't wait to get started and jump into my MNT rotation. I will begin my supervised practice in July and begin in-person shortly thereafter. The program start, structure, and length have been altered due to the pandemic. My rotation locations are as listed below:
MNT- St. Vincent Medical Center
Food Service MGMT- Wright Patterson AFB
Schools MGMT- Perrysburg Schools
COM- Lucas County WIC + West Toledo YMCA
Until the internship begins I am get things in order, there is a lot to do to include making contact with all of my preceptors to verify that they can all still precept for me with the new exceptions due to the Corona Virus, complete paperwork such as background checks and trainings, and gather medical documentation. Currently I am completing things as best as I can and remaining patient and flexible. Resiliency is key in situations as such. There is a lot of uncertainty with this internship right now, just as there is with everything in most of our lives. But we WILL all make it through this and continue to progress and get back to normal.
