Korean Ground Turkey & Rice Bowls

Okay this isn't quite a bowl, but it's all the same right?? To be honest, I didn't have any clean bowls, new mom life- LOL. In an effort to create a more robust menu for myself & Baby George in the future I wanted to start branching out and making more recipes that suite not only my tastes & needs but also my time restraints as well. I work full-time but also work with personal training and nutrition clients for my small business on top of being a mom and solo parent most of the time. I am a busy lady that prefers to eat meals prepared at home. The ground turkey was the base for this recipe, I decided to pair it with basmati rice topped with some raw cashews and roasted broccoli. This hit the spot and kept me nice and full to walk around the neighborhood for Halloween and until my first pumping session of the night.

Now when it comes to cooking, I am a simple creature of habit and I think it’s great to have “go-to” recipes that are weekly favorites, but I have gotten in a rut of sorts with my busy schedule over the past 5 years and took this as a welcomed challenge. The recipe I am sharing here is a simple one with minimal ingredients (my fav) that is delicious and very customizable. Anymore I need simple, minimal ingredient, and time effective recipes that I can batch cook for the week. This delicious dish I made during meal prep this week and was so delighted with it. It is a bit spicy (I am somewhat of a wimp when it comes to heat), so if you don't love any spice I would omit the crushed red pepper flakes. These ingredients are kitchen staples, which is another must have in my recipes. I don't like recipes with a billion ingredients that you end up buying and only using once. I hope you give these quick ground turkey bowls a try, get creative and enjoy your favorite veggie and grain components!

Ingredients:

1 lb ground turkey
2 cups uncooked basmati rice
4 cloves garlic- minced
1/4 cup agave or honey
1/4 liquid aminos or low sodium soy sauce
2 tsp sesame oil
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp black pepper
sesame seeds for garnish

How to:

Cook rice according to package directions, set as your base for the bowl.
In a large skillet, brown ground turkey until fully cooked over medium heat.
While turkey is cooking, in a small bowl add garlic, agave/honey, liquid aminos/soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, & black pepper and mix.
Once turkey is fully cooked add the sauce to the skillet. Cook 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens.
Serve turkey over rice with some stir fried veggies or sprinkled with green onions & sesame seeds.
