Spring Life Update

Hey there! If you haven't been here in awhile, I figured I'd update you all on where my life has been and is now going since the new year. Most important NEW hot topic: Chris & I found out we were pregnant at the end of January while I was away at the Air Force First Sergeant Academy. I subsequently found out that I passed my RD exam a couple weeks later and went through a very tough time struggling with figuring out what to do with my pregnancy (you can read about that here if you wish). Life has been only getting better since my doctors appointment in February confirming my pregnancy and after our final decision. I have gotten a nursery together and have been coming around a little more every day to the idea of becoming a mom. Chris & I have been enjoying life and spending lots of time together talking about our future and where we plan on living with this new little one coming in September.

In the next month of so, I plan to start looking more seriously into masters programs that I am interested in. I am only looking at distanced ones, but nothing is off the table. I have a few areas of study that I am interested in and will start getting more serious about it in the next month or so once I get some of my life ducks in a row. We are currently doing a bathroom renovation on our own, yes- on our own. It has been an adventure so far but is really coming around. I have painted the cabinets and also the vanity and can't wait to share how beautiful it looks. We are building that "sweat equity" for our burg palace. It is taking some work but will totally be worth it when we are finished.

This month we also have a Chicago trip planned for our anniversary to celebrate along with Chris' birthday! So we will be visiting our favorite city to enjoy some delicious food, a museum or two, and lots of walkabouts on the city streets- our favorite thing. We will be driving and it will be a nice short trip, but it's so needed. We haven't been to Chicago in too long and we are very much looking forward to more weekend trips until the baby gets here. So this April will be the baby's first time in the windy city even if he's still inside my belly.

Work: Work at the base has been insanely busy however, I have been learning more than I had even hoped to. It has been such an amazing learning experience and has allowed me to work my skillset right after returning from school, which I am so thankful for. I have been filming weekly nutrition videos for our Airmen and Family Readiness office which has been wonderful for my RD brain and soul. I have also been providing nutrition education to individuals which has been filling my nutrition counseling fix. It also allows for me to establish some relationships and create conversations with people in various squadrons. I also have been offering 4 fitness classes during the week on base which has been so wonderful and has allowed me to be apart of more people's fitness journeys. The 180th is involved currently in a beta test for a fitness app that I have been selected to be the point of contact with the company and our members. We are currently in the phase of on-boarding members to help assist in their fitness goals primarily geared toward the PT test. I have just been learning so many things and getting so many opportunities to grow which I couldn't be more thankful for.

Play: I have been still kicking butt in the gym and while out pounding pavement. As my pregnancy progresses and summer carries on I'm sure it will decline some, which I am perfectly fine with. I have been listening to my body because it is doing some serious work growing this baby McVicker. I have noticed I am having more difficulty with doing some abdominal exercises and will need to change up how them soon, I will be posting an entire blog about fitness during pregnancy in the coming weeks to help any new mommas out there in their journey. My mileage is decreased slightly as is my mile time, but I am just happy I can bring this little one along with me and try to my best ability during that workout session. I have no fitness goals other than to listen to my body and do what sounds good to keep me and the baby safe and healthy. I still have been enjoying the gym lifting 4-5 days per week and am thinking of adding in a day in place of one of those to stretch and focus on breathing for labor and etc.

I have been taking on more in-person training clients which has been wonderful as well. It has been great to meet them where they are and be their source of guidance and support. My online clients have been steady as well and is really helping me outline what I plan to do with my RD next. I have always had an entrepreneur spirit and consulting on the side and working with clients to build healthy eating patterns and habits is right up my alley.  Thank you all for catching up with me and my pantry love of course! Have a wonderful week!
